The GT3 variant of the 991 was unveiled at Geneva Motor Show in 2013. Apart from all the normal design elements that makes a GT3 so special, the 991 GT3 was also fitted with active rear wheel steering and, for the first time on a GT3, the PDK gearbox was made available as an option. The facelifted 991.2 GT3 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017. Besides a few cosmetic changes there were several design changes that improved the aerodynamics of the car and resulted in much improved downforce. Engine capacity increased from the first 3.8L engines to a 4.0L flat-six engine, derived from the GT3 R and Cup racing cars. The engine produced 368kW with 460Nm available. It red-lined at 9000 rpm with zero to 100 km/h taking a mere 3.2 seconds with the PDK gearbox and with a top speed of 319km/h. There was also now a choice again between a manual or a PDK transmission.

This specific car is a 2018 GT3 Touring. The car has done only 1285kms from new and has a full-service history with Porsche SA. It is finished in GT silver with beautiful leather front seats with Houndstooth inserts and the Porsche crests embossed on the head restraints. The Touring version of the GT3 followed the roots of the 2016 911R. The rear wing was removed and replaced with a retractable rear spoiler from the 991 GTS, giving the car a more aesthetically pleasing image. The car has 104 kg less down force than a standard GT3 at top speed. Top speed is also reduced to 315 km/h on the Touring. Factory fitted standard and optional extras include a sports exhaust, front axle lift and a six-speed manual gearbox.

Although the 991 GT3 Touring was not a numbered car, production numbers were low and not many came to South Africa. A very rare and beautiful 911 for the true connoisseur!
