2017 Mazda MX-5(ND)

The Mazda MX-5 is a lightweight roadster with a front engine rear wheel drive layout. It was launched at a time when small roadsters were fizzling out. The only other roadster available at the time was the Alfa Spider which was marketed at a much higher price point. This made the MX-5 the spiritual successor to cars like the MGB Roadster, Triumph TR7 and Fiat Spider.

The model generations are designated by the letter N and letter proceeding, NA being the first and the ND being the latest and current generation. The RF model was a variant introduced in late 2016. The idea was to give the car a fastback, coupe silhouette. The hard roof is electrically retractable much like the one on a modern Porsche 911 Targa.

This specific car is a 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF. It is finished in Soul Red Crystal with a black leather interior. It has covered only 56 252 km from new and has a full-service history. Being the ND generation, it was shorter and lighter than its NC predecessor. It weighs around 1000 kg and is powered by a 2.0 naturally aspirated engine that produces 116 kw and 201 nm of torque. Power to weight is 107 kw/ton which is plenty considering the Volkswagen Golf at the time had a power to weight of 130kw/ton.
