The Porsche Cayman R was a special end of production special based on the 2009 Cayman S. It featured a host of extras as standard including the OEM aerokit, lightweight 19-inch wheels. A Cayman R in its lightest form is approximately 55 kg lighter than a normal Cayman S. To achieve this weight saving, Porsche deleted various components including the cupholders, door sill guards and the instrument cluster surround. The inner door handles were placed with “pull-tags” and lighter doors from the 911 GT3 were also added. Other components that could be deleted included storage bins, aircon and radios to achieve the 55 kg weight saving.

The suspension on the Cayman R was also re calibrated and lowered by 10 mm or 20 mm with the optional active suspension. The Cayman R is powered by a direct fuel injection naturally aspirated 3.4L flat six that puts out 243 kw and 370 nm of torque. With the PDK gearbox and sport chrono package fitted, the Cayman R can accelerate from 0-100 in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 280kph. The Cayman R is relatively rare with only 1 621 units ever produced.
