1999 Porsche 911 GT3 (996)

The first Porsche that bore the “GT3” name-tag was introduced in 1999 as part of the 996 model range.

It was a road car focused on racing and named after the FIA GT3 Class, for which it was designed to race in. It was a lightweight car with items that added extra weight removed, such as rear seats, rear speakers, sunroof, radio and air conditioner, although all South African cars were specked with air conditioner and a radio. There was almost no sound deadening in the car in a further attempt to lose weight. The engine was the famous “Mezger” engine designed by Hans Mezger. The 3,6 L flat six boxer engine developed 265 kW or 360 hp. The car weighed only 1,350kg. Top speed was 302km/h and zero to 100 took only 4,8 seconds!

This specific car is a 1999 model and has done 98,000 kms from new with a full service history from Porsche SA and a specialist. It is a one owner car from brand new and it has been fastidiously maintained! Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with black all leather interior.
