The BMW M5 is a high-performance variant of the BMW 5-series cars. The first M5 was produced in October 1984 and currently the M5 still forms part of the 5-series model lineup. The M5 is considered an iconic car in the sports sedan category.

The first M5 was based on the E28 5-Series and was introduced at the Amsterdam Motor Show in February 1985. It was based on the 535i chassis, with various mechanical upgrades. The most notable upgrade was the M88/3, in-line 6-cylinder engine which was an updated version of the engine used in the legendary M1 sports car. This engine produces 210kW at 6500 RPM. When the M5 was launched it was the fastest production sedan in the world, with a top speed of 245 km/h and a zero to 100 km/h time of only 6.5 seconds! The official markets for the first M5 was Europe, Great Britain, the United States, Canada and South Africa. At the end of production in 1988 only 2241 of the first M5’s were made.

This specific car is a 1989 model with 131 000 kms on from new. It has been very well maintained and is in a near perfect condition, finished in Diamond Black metallic with a beige interior and beautiful 16-inch BBS rims with Pirelli tyres. This car is highly original and immaculate. It must be one of the best examples available!
