Are you looking for a Alfa Romeo GTV-6 3.0L for sale?

The Alfa Romeo Alfetta or Type 116 is a sedan or fastback coupe that was produced between 1972 and 1987. It was noted for the rear position of its transaxle and its De Dion Tube rear suspension which was used to optimize weight distribution and handling. This layout earned it the name “Alfetta” which means “little Alfa” and was last used on a 1951 Alfa Romeo Formula 1 car that had the same transaxle technology.

The fastback coupe or Alfetta GT was based on the Alfetta saloon and designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign. It was introduced in 1974. In 1980, the GT received a restyling. The Alfetta GTV became known as the Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 as many now know it.  Later in the same year, the GTV-6 2.5, a version of the GTV with the SOHC V6 2.5L engine from the Alfa Romeo Alfa 6 luxury saloon, was released. To accommodate the top intake, the hood received a bulge to clear it and it became the most pronounced feature.

The South African market also introduced the 3.0L GTV-6 in 1985. This car was a joint effort between Alfa Romeo South Africa and Autodelta. The car was produced for homologation purposes to enable Alfa to compete in the Group N racing series in South Africa. This predated the factory debut of the 3.0L engine by two years. Only 212 units were built and the last six GTV-6 3.0’s were fuel injected.

This specific car is a stunning example finished in red! It has done only 45 000 km from new. This car was subject to a nut and bolt restoration to a very high standard and is like new. This is a rare opportunity to own what is arguably one of South Africa’s most collectable classics!

Please take note that all cars can be viewed at showroom by appointment only.
