The Porsche 944 was the successor to the 924. The engine was mounted in the front with the gearbox at the rear to balance out weight. Thanks to this transaxle set up the 944 had a near perfect weight distribution. Porsche produced over 163 000 944s which made it one of the most successful sports cars in Porsche’s history.
