1984 Opel Kadett 1.8 GTE

The Opel Kadett is a small family car produced by Opel. The first Opel to bear the name “Kadett” was manufactured from 1936 to 1940. The Kadett name was reintroduced 22 years later when the Kadett A was launched in 1962. The Kadett name was used on a few different models until 1991, when it was superseded by the Astra.

The Opel Kadett D was introduced in August 1979. The cars were designed as three- or five-door hatches and there was also a station wagon available. In South Africa the cars were produced by General Motors. The South African range was made up of three-and five door hatchbacks, and a five-door station wagon called the Voyage. Engines started off with a 1,2L overhead valve engine and a 1,3L OHC engine. Later a 1,6L engine was added and a 1,8L in the GTE performance model. The 85kW, fuel injection engine in the GTE propelled the car from zero to 100km/h in 9,72 seconds and top speed was 192km/h.

This specific car is a 1984 Opel Kadett 1,8L GTE.  It is a one owner car with only 119 000kms from new! It has a comprehensive service and maintenance history. The car is completely original apart from the front and rear bumper being repainted, due to discolouring.  The car has just had four new tyres fitted. A new clutch was also fitted, brakes were renewed and a cambelt service done.
