1975 Volkswagen Kombi Split Window
Are you looking for a classic Volkswagen Kombi for sale?
Volkswagen announced their second model range in 1950, known as the Volkswagen Type 2. Informally, depending on the body type we know it as the Bus, Kombi, Transporter, Microbus or a Camper.
The very first generation of the Type 2 from 1950 to 1967 had a split front windscreen and was known as the Splittie or the Split Screen. These cars were fitted with the 1100 air-cooled engines with the first ones producing a whopping 18kW, or 24Hp! In 1953 engine capacity was increased to 1200cc and power went up almost 30% to 22kW and 30Hp. In 1955 a higher compression ratio became standard.
This specific car is a 1975 Fleetline model. It is finished in two-tone Red and White. The car was restored a few years ago to a nice standard.
Although production of the Split window Kombis stopped in 1968, the Fleetline was produced in South Africa only in 1975 and 1976 and was sold as entry level Kombis that were less expensive than the newer Bay window models. The Fleetlines were fitted with 1600 engines and had more power than the older Split window cars.
This car is a pleasure to drive and turns heads wherever you go. A rare opportunity to own one of these iconic busses!
