1959 MGA 1600
The MGA replaced the MG TF 1500 Midget and was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. The car represented a complete break away from the earlier MG sports cars. They were produced from 1955 to 1962 and was replaced by the MGB.
The car was so different from the older MG models so it was called the MGA. There was a new in line 4 cylinder engine available with a four speed gearbox. The car had independent suspension and was available with either wire-spoke or steel disc road wheels.
The first cars had a 1500cc engine with SU carburetors and produced 51kW but was soon uprated to 54kW. The car had drum brakes front and rear and both a roadster and coupe version was available.
In May, 1959, the standard cars also received an updated engine, now at 1588cc producing 59kW. Front disc brakes were fitted, but drums remained in the rear.
This specific car is a 1959 model and has done only 700kms since it was restored to a very high standard. Finished in Iris Blue with black interior and blue piping on the seats, this is a truly beautiful classic British sports car at a very affordable price.
Please take note that all cars can be viewed at showroom by appointment only.
