The W109 was a more luxurious car than the W108. Some of the features that distinguished the W109 were burled walnut dashboards, automatic transmission, power windows an air-conditioning. The window frames and A-pillars were fully finished with polished metal bright trim. The W109 was also fitted self-levelling air suspension.

In 1966 company engineer Erich Waxenberger transplanted the 6.3L M100 V8 engine into a W109 chassis, creating the first Q-Car for Mercedes Benz. Also known as a sleeper, a Q-Car is a car that looks unassuming, or the same as other cars in the model range but with a high-performance engine. The 300 SEL 6.3 raced to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds and had a top speed of 220 km/h. It held the title as the fastest production sedan for many years!

This specific car is a 1969 Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3 with only 96 000 miles indicated from new. The car underwent a ground up restoration that spanned over a 4-year period with a well- known Mercedes-Benz specialist – Kundendienst. The interior was kept original because it was in a great condition but everything else was either replaced or renewed.
