2003 Golf GTI (MK4)
Are you looking for a VW Golf GTI for sale?
Volkswagen began production of the MK4 Golf in 1998. It went on to become the best-selling car in Europe by 2001. The MK4 Golf was a huge step up from its predecessor boasting a high-quality interior and higher equipment levels. Volkswagen deliberately did this to plug the gap between other VW Group marques namely Skoda and Audi. In fact, the Golf became so premium that it was comparable to the Audi A3 of the time – a far more expensive car.
In 2001, the GTI trim level was introduced. It featured a punchy 1.8l, 20 valve, turbo charged engine that was good for 132kw and 235 nm of torque. Power is delivered to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. A slightly lowered transmission was employed to keep the drivetrain of the GTI in check.
The MK4 GTI was looked down upon because it was softer and more comfortable than previous models. This was due to Volkswagen’s move to become a more premium brand. As a result, the GTI came with soft leather Recaro seats with heating, Climatronic and wood trims. Though this may have not been very GTI-like at the time, however modern GTI’s feature the same and more making the MK4 very ahead of its time and quite modern by today’s standards.
This specific car is a 2003 Golf GTI with 123 200 km on the clock from new. It also has a full franchise history and is completely standard and as it was when it left the factory. It has the odd mark and scratch but that is part of what makes this car so honest and special. A rare opportunity to own a rather special hot-hatch icon!
Please take note that all cars can be viewed at showroom by appointment only.
