Ford Escort RS Cosworth, a car that was basically developed back to front with its original purpose was to go racing or in this case rallying. This makes it a road car that only exists because the FIA required a certain amount of road cars to be sold for a car to compete. As a result, very few cars were produced. The first 2500 cars were “true” homologation specials and due to popular demand Ford continued to build them up until 1996, tallying 7145 cars by the end of production.

Cloth trimmed Recaro seats were standard with leather being optional. The Cosworth also featured the iconic whale-tail rear wing, adjustable front splitter and massive arch extensions to accommodate the wider wheels. The biggest selling point was probably the Cosworth YBT 2.0L engine which was highly tuneable. In standard form they put out a commendable 167kW and a touch over 300Nm of torque which was mated to the same 5 speed gearbox used in the Sierra Cosworth.

This specific car is a 1993 model with only 58 200 miles from new and a comprehensive history. All the original parts such as the wheels, turbo and exhaust manifold are available and included in the sale of the car. The modifications done to the car are all supporting modifications to make big power however they were done to make the car strong and reliable for daily use with the power figures being in the range of 200kW and 400Nm at the wheels.
