1983 Lancia Montecarlo
Lancia produced the Montecarlo from 1975 to 1981. It was a Pininfarina-design mid-engine sports car.
The Montecarlo was unveiled at the 1975 Geneva Motor Show. Cars from the first series, from 1975 to 1978 were badged as the Lancia Beta Montecarlo. It had a 1995cc, twin cam 4-cylinder engine, developing 88kW at 6 000 rpm. Top speed was over 190 km/h and 0-100km/h took 9.3 seconds.
Production of the Montecarlo was stopped in 1978. After a two-year hiatus the revised second series was introduced in 1980, now simply badged as the Lancia Montecarlo, the “Beta” prefix ditched.
There were several exterior and interior updates on the second series cars, including a beautiful Momo steering wheel in the cabin. The engine was retained but revised: higher compression ratio, Marelli electronic ignition and new carburettors made for a torque gain.
This specific car was first registered in 1983. It has been restored to a very nice standard, finished in striking red with tan interior and wheels painted in gold. The car has 28 024 kms on the odometer but we suspect it has clocked over at least once as the complete service history is not available. The car was mechanically overhauled including engine, suspension and brakes, with just over 1 000 kms done since the rebuild.
This is a very appealing eighties sports car from the Lancia stable, exiting to drive and beautiful to look at!
