1984 Porsche Carrera 3.2
In 1984 Porsche replaced the 3.0L 911 SC with the 3.2L Carrera, using the Carrera name for the first time since 1977.
A higher displacement motor was used in the new car. The volume was achieved with the same bore size as in the 3.0L engine, namely 95mm but with 74.4mm stroke and combined with the camshafts from the 1978 3.3L Turbo. Higher domed pistons increased the compression ratio and a new inlet manifold and exhaust system were fitted. The 915 gearbox from the 911 SC was retained for the first models and was only changed to the G50 gearbox in 1987. Engine power was now up to 172kW or 231Hp. Zero to 100 km/h took 5.4 seconds and the top speed was 240km/h.
